Making Cooking More Fun

Saturday, June 04, 2011

I cook a lot these days, but at least one day a week I really cook, like as in get out the way, for the next three hours things will be steaming and boiling around here. I whip out a couple of pots, crank up the pressure cooker, heat up the griddle. I make beans, rice, hummus, stir fry, soups, root veggies -- anything healthy and freezable so I can warm it up quickly when I'm hungry. It's actually faster than fast food, because it just has to be reheated. And since I work at home -- right here at the kitchen table -- it's actually just a multi-tasking, and keeps the whole process more interesting. If I'm not working I crank up music, or I get the kids to come in and hang out at the table so we can talk -- anything to flavor the cooking process, make it less work, more fun.
