My SparkTeam's Jubilant June Challenge

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

Ok, so here is Week 1 of one of my spark team's June challenge, I will update it each day and repost it at the end of the week.

I haven't been on spark much since before Christmas so I will be making an effort to be on here and updating EVERY day this month ^_^

I’m also still a bit confused on the points so I will be figuring that all out later lol.

Jubilant June Challenge!

This section is a Month long challenge: These can be posted as your status, on the discussion board or as a blog! Just list here where it is so we don't miss it!)

Week one:
1)Post something you like about your physical characteristics. I like my curly hair ^_^ I used to hate it and always want it straight but I’ve grown to like my curly and untameable hair!
2) Post one tip on how you stay positive. This is something I struggle with but I have been trying to set my goals lower this time so I have lots of room for the struggle and to still achieve my goals.
3) Post one thing you are grateful for today. I am grateful for my family and friends, without them this struggle to lose weight would be impossible and not worth the effort.
4) Post it in five words – share something positive, inspirational, encouraging, wise or uplifting.
5) Post one way your Spark journey has spilled over into a non-food/exercise area of your life.
6) Post something that made you smile today. My friend Nick made me smile today, he always does ^_^
7) Post one thing to be happy about today. I am happy that it getting to be summer, though it’s a bit hotter today than I would like lol.

Points: 150

I'm glad you are back. The people on Sparkpeople are so wonderful and encouraging. My hair isn't curly, but when it is hot and I perspire my hair curls a little. I love it when it does that. I dropped my goals from 2 pounds a week to half a pound a week this year. It has helped keep me motivated. I don't feel like I'm starving, and I usually end up losing more than the half pound. It is a struggle though. Doing the challenges on the Live-Its team has really helped. Enjoy your summer, and remember that we are here for you. emoticon

I am so glad to see you back on the team. I had to be off of SP for a while and found it a bit difficult getting back into it the second time around. You have made a good start this time. Keep moving forward one day at a time. It does get easier as you go. The LIVE~IT'S Is a lifestyle because a real life style change is the only thing that is going to bring permanent good health.
emoticon I know that I will never have a body like this, but because of living a healthier life, I am better able to accomplish those things that I need and want to do in this life. emoticon This is the success that I pray you will find! emoticon
Keep on SPARKING and cultivating those WILDFLOWERS! emoticon

Great blog - I LOVE your background picture, gorgeous! I have semi curly hair and always hated it as a kid. I wear my hair up and cover it with a prayer covering. On humid days I get these tiny corkscrew curls along my neck that always make me smile :o)

I agree with Skunky about the goals. Sometimes my goals for the day are just to eat 5 fruits and veggies. I don't worry about not eating the rest of the junk, just adding in the good stuff. And breaking down big goals into smaller chunks always helps me too.

I have been in SparkPeople since March 2010. It has been an slow, but steady, very productive, journey. I made it one step at a time, one thing at a time, one mini goal at a time, one mini personal challenge at a time; baby steps have made it for me. I have been getting stronger, healthier, my confidence on me is back, I had a good taste of accountability, and I am doing it one step at a time. This is a doable journey, one step at a time, even one hour at atime, just think of doing it for the next hour and start tasting the success and joy it brings. I embrace you with my friendship and support, remember we are here to support you, to walk this journey with you, to motivate you, and cheer with you as you go stronger. You can do this, and together we will do this.

I used to set my goals so high that it was impossible to meet them. Then when I didn't quite reach them I considered myself a failure and just quit all together. Now I've learn (thanks to Sparkpeople) that you can set short term goals and eventually it will lead you right to your long term ones. Step by step...one pound at a time. And the great thing about it is I have all these wonderful Live~its helping me each step/pound of the way. I think you are on the right track. emoticon
So enjoy the journey...I sure am!

Oh BTW I agree with your #7. I am so glad it is warmer. Our winter seemed like it would never end. Finally we have sunshine and warmth. And even though it is hot I keep reminding myself that it beats snow, freezing cold, ice, and dark, gloomy days!!

Isn't it funny the things about ourselves we didn't like as children, turn out to be some of our best features as adults!
People with str8 hair always want curly too! emoticon
