Today is Day One... Again

I am beginning again today. I am trying a method that I have not really tried before. I was reading the blog of a Spark Friend and saw that her jump-start stategy is to go 30 days with no cheats.... not one! So this got me to thinking. If I can go 30 days with no cheat, then I'm sure that I can keep at it a while longer. I've heard it takes 28 days to create a habit, so if I can go 30 days without soda, cake, candy, etc., then maybe I can create a habit of not putting bad stuff into my body that will only delay progress. There are plenty of sweet fruits that I can use as desserts. I love melons and they are in season, so I will be sure to keep those around. One great advantage to me (that I had not taken use of) is there is a produce market in the basement of my building. I can go there and buy all sorts of fruits and veggies. Heck, he even sells bags of raw almonds and other nuts. I have decided to take this thing one day at a time, one meal at a time, one decision at a time. I did not plan my meals for today outside of breakfast, but I did throw some healthy snacks in my bag before I left home. I know, I know, if I fail to plan, then plan to fail. Well, I'm not accepting that defeat.
My breakfast was my usual at home version of McDonald's Fruit and Maple Oatmeal. However, I use Splenda with a teaspoon of both brown sugar and pure maple syrup to sweeten it. I cut back from a tablespoon each. I use two teaspoons of raisins and craisins with no apples. That cuts some of the carbs, since the quick cooking oats are loaded with carbs. At least they are the good carbs though. I have planned my snacks ahead of time, and they will be an apple with raw almonds later this morning and a Laughing Cow swiss wedge with whole wheat Ritz crackers this afternoon. I'm hitting Subway for a salad at lunch. I am not sure what meat I will have on it, because I need the protein. I'm thinking about buying a pouch of tuna and using vinaigrette dressing. Dinner will be chicken and veggie sti-fry over brown rice or chicken, cheese, and peppers quesadillas made with whole wheat low-carb tortillas. Either one will be yummy! I will log my food and do some kind of exercise. Tonight I will plan for day 2.
