Does allergy medication cause weight gain? & other rants

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

I am in a really grumpy mood this morning. Could it be because I finally fell asleep around midnight & then inexplicably woke up at 4:14 & couldn't fall back asleep? Could it be because the Tuesday after a 3 day weekend is always Heck at work? (why do people always have car accidents on Memorial Day weekend??!?) No, I think it is because I am fat again!

I am almost back up to my fattest weight ever. (only 6.5 lbs & I'll be there.) I have steadily been gaining weight since Spring started... is it a coincidence that this is the exact time I started taking Claritin every morning? I take it at the same time as my thyroid medicine. I'm still exercising. I'm still eating healthy. Not to say that I have been perfect, but I shouldn't be ballooning up like this. I need to get my thyroid checked again, but my yearly exam needs to be after June 22 so my insurance will pay for everything. I'll have to wait until then.
It is just so frustrating. I'm going to get militant about exercise & food. Please help me not to give up. I certainly feel like it. I worked hard to lose these pounds and they are coming back without any effort at all.

In other news, my father-in-law is fine. He went to the ER on Friday morning with chest pains & thought he was having a heart attack. They brought him 25miles from his town to my bigger town by ambulance. DH met them at the hospital & stayed there all morning while they did test after test... they found nothing wrong with him at all. After all the testing, he remembered that he stretched too far putting up an awning & probably pulled a muscle. When he 1st got to the hospital, DH told me that his dad was all about lifestyle change when/if he made it out of the hospital... he was so worried. He was going to cut out red meat, exercise more (maybe walk the golf course instead of using a golf cart), eat healthy, lose 100lbs, etc etc. BUT there is nothing wrong with his heart, so I guess now he's decided to keep up his current lifestyle. ARGH! Matt's family has always been weird about diet & exercise though. They once lost 100 lbs each on fen fen. They once cut out red meat, but deep fat fried chicken every night. They think their son (my hubby) is going to die of a heart attack while running, because strenuous exercise can do that to you.

Oh, and the drama from last week?!?! My co-worker's sister was involved in a domestic dispute where her baby's daddy kidnapped the baby with the help of the police. The town I live in is so corrupt. Last I heard, the baby is safe now & is in Des Moines with her grandparents.

Well, thanks for listening to me rant...I better start getting ready for work now. Any help/encouragement I can get will be greatly appreciated. If I gain those last 6 1/2 lbs, I'll probably freak out.

It's just time to jump back on the bandwagon. I'll be jumping back on with you too! I've gained steadily through the spring as well.

Good luck. I'm sure even with the allergy medication you can lose weight! :-D
