Sticking with my new habits- Most of the time

Monday, May 30, 2011

The month of May has been a real test of my new healthier living habits- TO SAY THE LEAST!
With a week of turmoil and broken house, a week of vacation, then a week of contractors- I can say "I have changed my ways". I've not eaten as well as I was when I could track everything I ate on a daily basis, but I've not done too bad either. Mostly, I have made good choices at meal time. My workouts have been sporadic, but I have managed to do at least 3 sessions each week.
Considering that my family is living in a hotel right now while construction goes on in the house; I am back and forth all day working with contractors and taking care of business in general; not to mention finishing the school year with the boys- I think I'm doing just fine on the "taking care of me" side.
We probably have another week and a half of construction at the house. I don't do well when my "normal" life is in such upheaval.
I will tell you that I am sooooo glad to have found and started SP when I did. Living through this last month as unhealthy as I was 6 months ago would not have been good. I'm not sure that I'd have made it. Now, I have the energy to get it all done (although I am exhausted at day's end) and my blood pressure has been perfect.
I don't know, I feel like I'm rambling here. I just wanted you all to know that I'm surviving this ordeal a lot better than I would have before I made some health changes in my life, AND I feel like those changes are sticking as I am clinging to them in a time of great stress.
My husband keeps saying "By 4th of July this will all be a memory". I can't wait!
Stay Strong, SparkFriends.

Hang in there Roxanne, you can make it! Any work done on your house messes with EVERYTHING but it too will pass.
Sounds like you are doing well so far, so just keep it up!

SO glad to hear from you, Roxanne. I was wondering how you were doing and how you were coping with all the upheaval in your family's life. I'm happy that all seems to be going well and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'd correct your hubby tho. "By 4th of July, this will all be a BAD memory". I've been through remodeling a house and I'll never do it again.

    Hugs, Linda
