Wow... the crazy days of May.
I can't believe once again I'm writing about how "I can't believe the month is over!" It's like as I get older, everything is speeding up. Uncool, lol.
So May was quite a craze of activities as I've slowly pulled myself out of hibernation. Let me see if I can quickly rehash all the activity for an update.
3rd - Had my complimentary Bally's birthday 30 minute personal training. I did burn a good 500 cals, but unfortunately, I did not like my trainer, lol. Go figure. It was free. You get what you pay for...ha.
5th - In anticipation of finally reaching my half way mark, I started to venture out to do my first Hot Yoga class (blog: 5/5/11). So in order to do that I started first by taking some simple yoga classes to get started. So the 5th I embarked on my first real yoga class. I absolutely loved it! I have never felt so graceful in an activity before. And seeing my body with such a triumph of losing so much recent weight, it was like a little victory. Still working out on when I will be going in for hot yoga. Will blog about that soon.
7th - Donated my platelets for the first time. I was sooo drained and freezing! They say that the fact that your blood is circulated out and then back into your body at the difference of 1 or 2 degrees colder, it's like a body shock. I was shivering the whole two hours. But worth it in the end. Hopefully my platelets have saved someone by now. A+ baby.
7th - NBA Championships. Later that night, headed out to watchthe game. I live in the MIA, so I am Miami all the way.... until they play the Celtics, (laughing). I am a die hard Celtics fan. I don't know when it happened, but it just did. So when the Celtics finally won this game that put them (Miami 2-1 Boston), I was ecstatic, and surrounded by an angry mob.
8th - Spent all day with mom and Mama (my grandmother) for Mother's Day. Great day! Then later I realized I had reached my Half Way Mark! Finally, clean eating for over 2 months put me here. The weight came off quite nicely. No sugar, no starch, no carbs. Lots of hearty fruits (not the high sugary stuff like bananas and grapes) and dark veggies. Plus green tea in the mornings, mucho added fiber and lots of exercise.
Lovely to see the fruits of my labors. I bought a bikini! Still a little scared to wear it, but I just went ahead and put it on that day... this pic is so hard for me to post (cause I see chubby, lol) but I see progress too, so I'm gonna own it. My bikini shot...still covered, I know. But I'll reveal all one day....
11th - NBA Championships. Celtics lost the final battle (Miami 4-1 Boston). I was broken hearted. And once again surrounded by a crazy mob, lol. But I quickly recovered becuase now, it was about the MIA's dream team. What, what. This is when the "Heat Fever" really started...
12th - Went to the batting cages for the first time in years. It was soooooo much fun! It's a great workout! Arms, back, core and thighs. Set and swing. Burned about 300 cals and had a great time with friends. Plus after taking pics, once again, I saw so much weight loss progress. Yay.
15th - Completed my 2nd 5K! It was great. But I think after completing my Half Marathon in February (blog: 4/26/11), I thought this one would be a cinch. Not at all! It was still tough, but I got through it. My time was 41:26ish. So I shaved about a minute off my last 5K. I know I can do better.. and have already started training for it. Plus, I did this whole training with a few friends that I helped get back into running so that was really nice.
15th - Also later that day, my endorphins were on high and I finally jumped into the whole online dating thing. I signed up with Match.com. I'm a bit apprehensive, but I figured, let's just go ahead and try it now. I'm looking for my PIC - partner in crime. Been looking for him for awhile actually, lol...
20th - I had my graduate school interview. I applied for my Masters in Family Therapy and got passed to round one, the interview. I was a little nervous, because I'm still not sure if this is what I want as opposed to finding a better job (hard!) or getting my MBA which I am already accepted. The interview was looooooooong. It was all day. 8:30 to 4:30. And it went really well. I had rounds with three different professors, plus made contact with two others. I was really nervous at the start of them all, but after being able to talk with them one-on-one, my anxiety eased. I guess meeting them personally and it being less formal than I thought, allowed me to ask them candid questions and be myself. Plus I learned a lot more about the program that met my future interests. I think also it's that I was finally really realizing that I really want to get into this program. I think I'd be really good at the profession. And if I got in, it would finally change my life down the direction I want...finally. Life has been tough lately and I just need to do something drastic, you know?!? They're only accepting 40 students out of I think we were about 60-70 strong, plus those who couldn't make it. So wish me luck! I won't know if I'm accepted for another couple of weeks. Boo. But they said they'll get those letters out as soon as possible. I'm crossing my fingers...but I really need to be praying. I'm asking for your prayers too. I just want it to be a blessed venture, you know....?
21st - The Apocaplyse! (laughing) Oh man... that was good stuff. Very entertaining. The world was supposed to end May 21, 2011 at exactly 6pm...ha, right. But seriously, all I have to say is this. I found my comfort in simple text. - "But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven's angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.” – Matthew 24:36 Amen.
26th - Daegu World Championship (Track & Field) - Once again Usain Bolt, fellow Jamaican, has set the world afire and came in 1st in Rome's World Championship Meet still maintaining his title as the world's fastest man alive. And he was followed right behind by Asafa Powell, Jamaican, in 2nd place. Why Jamaicans run so fast?!? (smiling) Yeah mon... it is a beautiful mystery. Wow, to have a body of such performance...here are some pics...
26th - NBA Finals. Heat beat the Bulls with some serious 4th quarter magic. I can't even explain the craze that's going on the city right now. It's on now... There were NO tickets left for the game so we had to setup camp outside the arena. This is the only clear picture I could get after the winning points. Everything just went nuts...
27th - Today! Finally I'm up. Tired from yesterday's excitement. Just looking forward to this coming weekend. This Memorial Day I'm going to especially aim to take time out to honor those lost in battle and not just take it as a day off. Either way, I'm going to hopefully have a relaxing weekend where I'll see you guys on the other side.
Wooh! Time is flying by. Everyone take the time to acknowledge it and hold dear those you love. To all the military families out there... your sacrifice is immeasurable and in every honor... thank you.
...for reading. Leave me a note... I love that!
