Moment of Shame

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Sometimes along this journey, we have moments that make us feel shame deep in our hearts. Though no one knows its there, it hits hard all the same. I had one of those moments last night. A simple change in routine put me into a position to see my legs at a different light. I was horrified to see that I have a slab of fat hanging on my thighs above my knees. The worse part is that knowing when I was hitting the gym, my legs were looking great. Lost my gym membership due to finances but I let that be an excuse not to do anything. I would exercise every now and then. We all know that now and then doesn't cut it. Now, it used to be that something like this would make me crawl into a hole and want to just give up. Not this time, I've learned a few things along the way so far. This is going to be my fuel to get me moving. Anytime I don't to, well, I have the mental image of my legs or I can take a good look downward and ask, "are you sure you can afford to sit & be lazy?"
Also to help, i've joined a challenge on another site, 10 lbs by July 4th.
Today, I worked out to LS walking dvd while wearing a little weighted belt that came with a dancing dvd. I really worked up a sweat. My goal is now to move, move and move my butt. I can do 1 to 2 miles with that dvd, but it has 5 miles on it so that is my goal--is to get where I can do all 5 miles of it. I will not let my moment of shame do me in. No way, no how!
