Down and (working) out
Wednesday, May 25, 2011
Things haven't been the best lately. I've been dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety. It all culminated yesterday when I had a panic attack on the subway and nearly passed out as my vision was fading. It was really scary.
Anyway, after starting off my day so poorly, I wanted to make sure I ended it well. I made plans to meet up with a friend after my Tuesday night class. Then another friend asked if I wanted to meet up to hang out on her roof deck. I agreed to both, in case one fell through. I guess I jinxed myself by overbooking cause both friends had to cancel at the last minute. I was bummed cause I really needed to chat with a friend and get my head straightened out.
Instead of going home and getting sucked into bad TV, I set out for a walk in my neighborhood. I put on my sneakers and a comfy shirt and shorts and was on my way. I decided that since I was going for a walk that I was going to make it mean something and really pushed myself to walk fast. I went up and down Central Park West (alongside Central Park for those who don't know) for a total of 3.6 miles in 50 minutes.
The music blaring in my iPod, the fresh air and great park scenery really helped turn my mood around. I went home and was feeling especially motivated and did a 10 minute kickboxing video on SP. Needless to say, I went to bed exhausted and accomplished. This morning I woke up with a big smile on my face.
