Sometimes I am really at a loss to figure out how my body works.
We've been doing a Captain's Challenge lately on our team in the BLC16, and probably, I think, maybe, it's possible, that just two items of it are helping me lose more weight this week than I think since the first week of my first ever BLC round, no.14.
Just trying to drink a minimum of 80 oz of water each day has been very! good for me, either way; I've cut down on the amount of coffee I drink, and paying attention to my thirst. This is great in three ways; one, I haven't been able to kick the coffee habit lately, just because I was being stubborn about 'it's my last vice, i want at least!! one!' and because two, I was imagining that coffee could be a diet drink for me, since it has nearly zero calories (as well as zero nutrients!).
Number three, I have a syndrome called Sjogren's, which dries out all the mucous membranes in my body. Think: any part of your body that can possibly be damp normally, from saliva to sweat to the wax in your ears, dries out. It's not known exactly how this happens, but it does and there's little you can do about it. I've just gotten to the point of needing some anti-inflammatories, which means I think that I'll get an official diagnosis this week.
Needless to say, eating or drinking anything that dries out anyone's body is a Big NO NO. And, coffee does that. Anyone who's drunk a lot of coffee at one time and had to run to the restroom knows that.
The other thing in our Cappy's 2week Challenge that I think has been helping me a Lot! is to WIN, as we call it, or Weigh IN each day. Just tracking my food, another C2C item, has helped me all along, but WINning each day also reminds me just before I decide to eat something, that I'll be seeing the consequences of my good or bad decision very soon, rather than ordinarily having days when I could be thinking, well, I can eat less tomorrow and make up for this splurge. LET ME SAY, I STILL SPLURGE. But, I do it with the full knowledge that I'll have to post my new daily weight in less than 24 hours, so if I REALLY want to splurge, I do it RARELY, and! I try to offset it in some healthy choices AT the SAME time! So, no more! telling myself 'i can forget about my health right now'.
Maybe I'll make this a semi-regular blog; it's helped me think through some things I need to think more about.
Hope you're having a FANTASTIC day, week, month, year, and life!
