Back in Business!

After a break from SP, I am back on-line again. The site could IMHO use some simplifying, but the gorgeous iPad app has revitalized my commitment, and I am back to tracking, hoping to lose ten more pounds. The iPad app has a great feature that calculates your calorie differential for the day. You log food, then activity , and it calculates the differential based on your BMR. Cool!

I have tweaked my SP-suggested calorie range by a dozen calories to take the guesswork out. My upper limit is now a number that will give me a daily deficit of 250 calories without exercise. That is half a pound a week. I do exercise, but would rather treat that as a bonus. If I do get in some good workouts and lose a whole pound, that is wonderful. But if not, I am happy with half a pound and can easily manage at the calorie level I set. A lower target has proven quite punishing for me. I can never maintain it for long. I would rather a more sensible slow and steady, even it means I won't reach my goal as quickly.
