Back from Mackinaw Island and really tired but feeling great! Walked for at least 2 hours yesterday and more than that the day before. Stayed at the Grand Hotel for the night and enjoyed looking at the rooms that I could see. We stayed in the Napoleon Suite which was all in red. Red velvet drapes, red wallpaper, red velvet spreads and red carpet. Whew! By the way the bathroom was green. Lots of pictures of Napoleon and French gilt in the room also. A daybed of red and green strips can you imagine?
Anyway we walked to see the arch which was beautiful, took a carriage ride, then walked the trails. What a beautiful day to enjoy the island and looking at the Great Lakes. When you look at Lake Huron and Lake Michigan at the same time it really is awe inspiring. Then add the Mackinaw Bridge and remember all the folks that fought on both side of the early wars there to keep our country safe - well I guess we have always been fighting.
I did enjoy the food for the day - but had Salmon and healthy "stuff" at dinner.
A great start for the Spring season and made me want to stick with my diet.
