Week One - A Little Disappointing

Sunday, May 08, 2011

I made the mistake of weighing myself part way through the week and the scales showed a loss of over 5 pounds! However, today (my actual weigh in day) I am only down 2 pounds. I know, I know two pounds is good - but I wanted GREAT! My first week is usually always a "BIG" one and I was looking forward to that.

So, now my mind begins to play games and says things like, "you might as well eat some of that chocolate and chips - your diet's not working..." The bad thing is - I am alone at home today, unsupervised...I hope I can hold the good habits together and keep the bad habits, the binge habits at bay.

I so wanted to report a successful week, and I had one. I've lost 2.1 pounds. Why isn't that enough for me to be excited about?

is any loss ever big enough when we're in a hurry to lose weight? I can understand the feelings you have, but you can't give in to them. I tend to weigh myself several times during the week and there are almost always ups and downs and it is frustrating but that's how our bodies work. Must be why 'they' always recommend once a week. I'm sure this week will be successful, too! emoticon

Congrats on the weight loss. Try to think of it this way, perhaps you lost only 2lbs this time because this time it is a journey and not a diet. I too have started off diets with a bang and then reached a plateau and gave up. I have been on Sparkpeople for over 6 monthes and have lost weight every week. Good luck on week 2!

Any weight loss is a success and some weeks it is just good enough to not go overboard. Some weeks it will be hard just to drink the water you are supposed to! I can understand your frustration but don't give up! You didn't put on the weight overnight so it won't be overnight to take it off! It is better to take it off slowly. Well good luck and keep it up!!
