In order to find what works, first you must identify yourself. I am a visual, hands-on person. I like to be around people. I am very active and busy. I like organization and cleanliness, but my house is not as clean as I would like for it to be.

Exercise:
At the gym, I prefer a group class, rather than on my own. The reason for this is because I tend to be a quitter. I get so bored walking on the treadmill or riding a bike, etc. The TV is usually on closed caption and difficult to keep up with. I do not own an ipod or other music device. I really don't like them because the music so close to my ears and keeps me from hearing what's going on around me. I think it's an issue of security. When I walk outside, I like to enjoy nature and all that God has created. Again, I don't like to be distracted by loud music in my ears and not be able to hear someone coming up behind me.

Diet:
This is a four-letter word that refers to one's eating habits. Notice - I did not say it's a structured plan that one constantly goes on and off of. Everyone is on a diet all of the time. A specific eating plan is derived from one's normal diet but is often referred to as "being on a diet". My diet consists of way too much sugar. Yep, I have a sweet tooth. I am trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, which definitely helps with the cravings. I notice that I feel better when I eat better. There is so much truth in the statements about diet having a big impact on health.

Stumbling Blocks:
As I mentioned before, I have lots of friends and many offers for lunch dates. Problem is that I tend to make not-so-good choices when eating out. Part of the reason, is I like to share so that I'm consuming smaller portions. Or I want to order off the appetizer menu and they usually don't have any healthy options. Another reason is price - restaurants love to stick it to you when you are trying to pick wholesome, healthy food. Have you priced a salad lately? - RIDICULOUS!!! My goal is to make healthy choices as the cost is more about my health than the moment of the meal. In other words, it's cheaper to pay a little more for good food than it is to pay for Dr. Visits. As far as exercise, I am trying my best to stay active without injury. It's become quite a challenge. At this moment, I have a inflammation in my hip and lower back. I am working on healing so that I can go back to exercise class but it may be a bit. I think that concentrating on a healthy diet is more important for me at this time. I'll add exercise as much as possible when I can.

    Great post! Keep it up! I try to look up the nutritional info for a restaurant I'm going to and picking one or two menu items out before I get there. Then, I'm not combing the menu & getting side tracked by yummy sounding bad foods. As for exercise and injury, maybe try looking into a basic yoga class! Lots of great thoughts here! You really have a point about knowing yourself making it easier to succeed at this!
