I lost 2.75 lbs. helping my mom

Thursday, May 05, 2011

I was evacuated because of the floods, so I went to my mom's. She put me to work, painting walls and helping get her room ready to move into. I lost 2.75 lbs. just doing that little bit of work and I enjoyed doing it.

Helping someone else pays off in ways you don't expect sometimes. I was busy so I lost weight. I didn't have time to raid the refrigerator or grab a soda. I enjoyed painting, so I won two ways. Or rather three ways, I also, had the enjoyment of working with my mom. It has been so many years since we worked together, and we enjoyed quality time talking as we worked.

We both thought I had lost everything at my apartment in the floods, but when they let us come home, I didn't have even a drop of water in my apartment. I thank God for that. Everything was safe and sound. Even my doormat was dry. Which is hard to believe considering how high the water was just two blocks away from my apartment.

Glad you enjoyed your time with your mom, and what a bonus with the weight loss. Keeping yourself busy helped. So glad to hear you had not water damage to your apartment. I can only imagine what people do/feel when there is a flood or worse. Stay safe.
