Deleting friends

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

After reading on a message board about spring cleaning among friends I decided to look at my friend department - I had 134 friends but looking through them I realized that some of them were added two years ago and they do not seem to have been logged in since.... so I deleted. I deleted those who had not been logged in for hundred days or more - except for those that I have had some interaction with and know/think will be active again. Then I deleted those that has npt added me although I added them once but have not looked them up since.

Then I added some that I have not added although they have added me and I do "meet" them regurlarly.

My problem was a bunch that does not seem to have any spark pages any more - I donĀ“t know how to delete them.

It was scary to do this "spring clean" - I felt unfriendly and that is why I think I need to do it. Because I keep all the people that I interact with, I keep those that I see active and whose blogs I read and whose comments I find on the message boards. And if I deleted somebody by mistake and they want to be added again, I will probably do it.

But I would want to get mor serious about my sparking - to devote my time here to healthy living. And that will be easier if I "declutter" and try to only keep people and teams that are active.

I still have to do some deculltering among spark teams, I have too many...

Thanks for reading and I would appreciate thoughts on this subject because it is not clear and simple to me. My feelings when I try to decide how to handle it is not clear either.

I always feel like I have to add someone as a friend if they add me, but I need to be more discerning. I, too, need to declutter in all areas of my life, physical, mental, and spiritual. Thanks for sharing your bravery in this area and giving me some courage.

Good stuff! I have "too many" Spark friends too...people who added me but we don't actually have much in common. I haven't spent much time on Spark in a few months, glad I made it past your spring cleaning! I left quite a few Spark groups awhile ago, it felt too overwhelming the little time I have to spend on Spark to have so many team messages to go through. Spring cleaning, ya!!

I have deleted friends also that dropped off and not to be seen. Unfortunately even in my real life I have had to delete some very dear friends that became toxic in my life. That is hard to do. But I had to look back through the years and see that the friendships in so many aspects were one sided, and I was the one hurt in them. But like you, I felt unfriendly not to be that great friend. It's hard, but it has to be done at times for our own health.

But I am not one that wouldn't accept a friendship back in my life. I am sure you would be the same way. If those friends you deleted show back up on your doorstep, I am sure you would welcome them back in.

I need to declutter my teams, I don't have time for all I want to do. Good idea.

Decluttering is an important task no matter the area of living. You know what to store, throw away, or give away. A person gives away their freedom to move forward, with too much clutter in their lives. Good job decluttering.

I don't think you are unfriendly at all. I think you are wise to do what you need to do to make this work for you!

lol I can see where you would need to do this. I havent any friends. I was trying to connect with people but, know. Im okay with it. I dont understand why SP doesnt have a system where the people that havent been on in the last 6mnths to a year get cancelled or put in the "back of the line".
I would think of it this way: In LIFE, if I know someone isnt "Good" for me, on occasion I have to get that out of My life because it isnt helping me to Grow. Cleaning up your spark page should be the same. They arnt there to Help guide you, which is why were are all here, so its time for them to go. IF they come back on and want to get in touch with you, they will.
