Stuck in a Rut

Monday, May 02, 2011

Ok, So I have been on Spark for awhile now. I've had some pretty serious health issues with my knees... I'm not in major pain on most days THANK GOD!

I can not seem to get out of this rut of just parking myself in front of my computer. I love the feed back and interaction I get from all my friends here on Spark. I need to start moving again. I DO walk most everyday about 1.5 miles at lunch, so I'm not a total SLUG! LOL

It has been very cold and rainy here in northern Illinois. Perhaps that is the reason. I've also been rather challenged by bills as my part time hours were cut to nothing for 4 1/2 months. I did volunteer in the beginning in order for the full time people to make their hours ( as I have a full time job). I'm now back to getting my usual hours.

I just can't seem to shake this lassitude.

Any suggestions? I'd love to get a Spark partner near where I live to challenge be to get off my but!

I turned 57 this year and I think part of this is playing with my mind!

I did put in 5 1/2 hours cutting grass by push mover and yard work this Sunday and my knees and hips were screaming at me! My ridding lawn tractor battery was dead, so it will be ok next time, as I got it charged . It looked like rain and the grass was so long because of all the rain, I had to cut all of it, about 2/3 acre by walking!

I so want to get out in my garden, and can't still to cold and wet.

So enough of my whining! Any encouragement anyone wants to throw my way I'm more than happy to soak up!

You guys are the BEST!

Oh kiddo, I soooo know what you mean. This weather in northern Illinois has been POOP! I have found that on the no sun days (most days lately) I can't even focus well on my work tasks in the office, much less care about health and fitness!

If the sun pops out I feel soooo much better. I really, really need that sun!

I have been in what is labeled by some folks as a "blue funk" Have just been not 'highly functional' in most areas of my life.

And you are just a Baby! I will turn 60 this coming November, and it scares the *bleep* out of me!!

I gave myself a good shaking a few days ago and I am trying really hard to do better! I wish we lived closer! We are about an hour apart --- maybe someday we can plan to meet at a forest preserve halfway and go walking!

    Hang in there, friend!!

Hi chris, I turned 60 in march and have had a lot of trouble getting used to the idea that I am now in my sixties! Seems impossible. My guru is the hypnotist Paul McKenna and he says that unless we stay in bed all day, which is the baseline, then we are doing something so we just need to move around more. I have knee problems too, I pulled something behind my knee on Saturday, just doing the warm up for my exercise DVD! Weather here is unusually hot and dry so trying to get anything done in the garden is difficult. Keep at it, 5 minutes at a time, hypnotherapy would help with your motivation.

OMG, I am going through the same thing. I am 58, have fibro and some days in too much pain to do anything. BUT we have to make the most of the good days and do what we can. Even getting out and doing anything on those off days is keeping it consistent...and that is how we are going to win. So set up a steak of some sort to follow for the next 14 days, even something small, and that usually gets me up and going in the right direction. So come on girl, get up and at them.
