New Running Shoes!!

Saturday, April 30, 2011

So yesterday I went to Dick Pond Athletics to get fitted for some running shoes. I didn't know what to expect exactly... Money's kinda tight but my WONDERFUL DH wanted me to get shoes that will be good for me and (hopefully) last a while... The guy there was VERY helpful. I took my shoes and socks off and he had me stand in place, balance on each foot and walk up and down this strip of track that they had in the floor. With each shoe I tried on, he encouraged me to run on the track strip, the treadmill in the store or even outside on the concrete sidewalk to test them and get a good feel for them... Well I settled on the Asics GEL-DS Sky Speed which were the second pair that I tried on. And their not ugly either (to me anyway)! BONUS!!!

So since I got them not even 2 days before the race, the guy at the store said that you usually want to break shoes in before you race in them, but since my old ones were giving me some knee pain, I didn't want to run a half marathon that's on mostly pavement in shoes that give me pain on trails. So he suggested that I wear these AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE over yesterday and today to try and break them in as much as possible until the race today.

Well here it goes! Breaking them in for the big day tomorrow!!! AH! emoticon

Love the color, very fun (as I feel running shoes ought to be!) I think definitely that the knee pain worn out shoes would cause is worse than any blister you might get from a shoe that isnt properly worn in... you'll probably be just fine! Enjoy... new shoes are such a great motivation!

Good luck & they are too cute. I guess that was my problem with running shoes in the past, they weren't a good look.

God bless & enjoy the race!
