The Bounce-Back Continues!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Thank you everyone for your concerns re: yesterday's mishap. Just gotta love our SparkFamily! A little Bacitracin and all this SparkLove goes a long way to making fellow keeping on tickin' when he takes a lickin'!

Went back at it today for 4 hours, kicking off with an hour of Spinning, 1/2 hr. elliptical, 1/2 hr. stationary bike, alternating with sets of upper body strength training and wrapping up with a 1/2 hour in the pool and hot tub. One of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday morning!

Had a different leader for Spinning today, neat to check out another person's "style"...dimmed the lights which I liked, could tune into the music and the rhythm of the ride better. She warned that the fitness center would have limited hours tomorrow due to the holiday. And followed that by saying the hotel (which runs the fitness center) is having an awesome Easter buffet and have absolutely jam-packed their ballroom with 500 seats which are sold out for the day with a 200 people waiting list. So parking might be a pain. Not if one is cycling...heh heh! Not that I plan to go tomorrow. I chimed in after she said this: Yeah you guys are in cahoots! Fatten 'em up at the buffet so they gotta come here to burn it off! :-)

Had a chance to chat up SparkPeople with one of the staff who also works on the side as a personal trainer...encouraged her to recommend SP to her clients!

Knee is still stiff, but it could be worse...! Swimming and hot tub was heavenly!

The only disappointment? No pellets! The demand has been so great that they won't have 'em until mid-May. At least I could lock in on the lower April pricing ($199 a ton). My knee is probably smiling over the delay.

Gotta heal up for the 5 Borough ride throughout NYC next week www.bikenewyork.org/ride
Only 42 miles, but I figure it'll be an awesome way to get more familiar with the Big Apple as I've only been to mid-town Manhattan a few times (such as last Feb. when I was on Dr. Oz with a few other members of SparkPeople!). They shut down the roads that we bike on...good thing as there are 32 THOUSAND cyclists converging for the event! I'm hoping to catch up with fellow Sparker RSILVERSEA who is also going to be cycling this event!

2BMYOWN sent me an Easter SparkGoodie and warned me to not eat too many peeps...I sent the 2 Eggs SparkGoodie and said: this is as close as I get to a peep allowed in this house...lol!

Have a wonderful Easter holiday everybody!

You are one amazing cyclist, Don! I hope your knee is better.

Thanks for providing such inspiration! At this point my 5-mile ride to work seems rough enough, after having been off it for CONSTANT RAIN for nearly two weeks!

You are an inspiration as always! The NYC ride sounds awesome. If they do that every year, I will have to try it sometime. Of course I would have to get a bike first... lol

The pellets might've been overdoing it - I think God's looking out for you. Your bike ride thru NYC sounds fab.

I grew up in Poughkeepsie, and we went to Manhattan frequently. But safpdly, I've only vpbeen about 3 times in the 25 yrs since we've been married. Just a little too far for a day trip - comfortably - from here.

    Enjoy your Easter!

LOL! Yes, Maha, I was referring to those sugary confections that NOW come in ALL different colors, who knew......?? But unfortunately, Don, I have grandkids who LOVE those things...but not to eat, to play with. So I am still finding rock-hard peeps tucked away every time I go to pack up more toys for my daughter to take to her new place.....from LAST EASTER, for cripe's sake.....OMG They'd make excellent hockey pucks. ***shudder***

It tires me out just reading your blogs, Mr. Machine. Spinning, cycling....I gotta get crackin' here---- and I thought I was doing pretty good doing my walking with Leslie routine! LMAO ****siiiiigh**** Yes, it's so true, I am such a slug, what can I say! You are a true inspiration, keep up the tremendous work!!!

Damn! that 5 Borough ride sounds intense. C'mon Don, "ONLY" 42 miles??? Now that you've done the century ride, you're incorrigible. HAHAHA But...but...THIRTY TWO THOUSAND cyclists?????? More hot tub soaks to get all healed up and ready for the exciting weekend, huh.

Is the diff between stationary bike and spinning that the latter is a class using the former?

I'm sooooo slow, but I don't get Gail's (2BMYOWN) joke??? Could it be something about baby chickies who go "peep peep, peep peep?" Don't have a clue!

In your activity and motivation you're at the OPPOSITE end of the spectrum of where I'm at these days, unhappy to say. I'm sure this too shall pass....

Keep up your amazing output my friend!
