My Springtime Shapeup

Spring is finally making its way to New England and I am so excited! It has been a long, cold, brutal winter. Honestly, we had snow flurries in the air as recently as a week ago in my part of the state. We had a couple of really nice days so the snow flurries just added insult to injury. The good news is that the hedges in front of my house are starting to bud...this means that spring is definitely on the way!
For me, spring usually brings thoughts of organization, cleaning, planning of vacations, wearing shorts and the dreaded swimsuit. At the completion of this winter, I've found myself with a few extra pounds that I am desperate to shed. I guess the long cold months indoors filled with comfort food have finally caught up with me lol! Just like every other mom other there, I struggle with lots of demands between parenting, managing my household, working and promoting my Avon Business.
It truly is a juggling act so I need to multi-task whenever possible. That being said, this year I figured out how to combine my need to shed some winter weight and promote my Avon Business locally. I decided to start walking to deliver my Avon Brochures as opposed to driving them through the neighborhood. I started this plan about 2 weeks ago. To help me set my mileage and step tracking goals, I began wearing a pedometer. Prior to starting my walking regimen, I never realized how heavy my brochures were and how much driving I truly did. I definitely have a new respect for letter carriers!
I am proud to announce that I am up to walking about 3.0 miles per day and I have already dropped 5 lbs! I feel good and I'm actually looking forward to my walks each day. I'm saving on gas (at $3.75 a gallon that's huge), my stress levels are lower, my head is clearer and I'm meeting new customers in the neighborhoods that I walk. This idea was so simple, I'm embarrassed that I didn't think of it sooner.
