Week 16: Hello 3rd Trimester

Friday, April 22, 2011

emoticon So I'm starting the 3rd Trimester up 22lbs. Not that bad considering and that's 5lbs less than with baby#1. So now that the appointments are 2 weeks apart it is going to be interesting to see how the weight gain is week to week. Some times I'll stay the same for 2 weeks and then the scale will jump up a lot. It doesn't seem that bad every 4 weeks but every 2 weeks. Umm. I will see what comments the nurse makes emoticon

emoticon So I'm still feeling nauseous and the OB suggested that I just eat a little bit every hour instead of hugh meals. I already eat like 5 times a day. She suggested that I breakup breakfast into thirds. So I'm going to start that today. Last night I ate like 1/2 of dinner and was going to eat the rest later but the nausea was just too much that I didn't eat anything else. I still had to sleep upright most of the night. I also have a yeast infection. I mention it because I think that maybe it is causing a lot of my cramping and some of the nausea and feeling like my lower belly is just going to fall out. So I'm interested to see if some of that goes away after the treatment is over.

emoticon Working out has been such a challenge lately. It seems like everytime I try I cramp up and just have to stop. I went to the gym on Monday and did the treadmill and just couldn't do it for more than 10 minutes and that was pushing it. Then I hopped on this elliptical type of machine and it was very comfortable for me to complete. I think it's more of a skiing motion than the round motion of a regular elliptical machine. So I'm think I'm going to try that again tomorrow.

emoticon Because of concerns that came up at the u/s I had done after the accident, the OB let me have another u/s at my 28week appt. They said the kidneys and bowel looked just fine. WooHoo!!!! But the tech mentioned that my little guy is already a hefty weight but she didn't say how much he weighs now. She also asked me my due date and smiled and said that the measurements all say 7-5-11. She did say that the baby could be going through a growth spurt and it may slow down but even I think the baby feels bigger inside of me compared to what Lillian felt like around this time. My concern is that I want my mother to come down July 4th weekend (weeks before my due date) to be here to care for Lillian when I go into labor. Now I'm wondering if she should come down a few weeks sooner. My mother doesn't work so that isn't an issue. It's just getting someone to bring her because she doesn't drive.

Speaking of the accident. Here is my new car

Here is Lillian in her new carseat. This car seat is the new Graco Smart Seat. It fits from 5lbs to 100lbs. It converts to an booster seat. So we figured that we would just get this one and we don't have to purchase another seat for Lillian anyway. We still need to get the old convertible inspected to see if it's still good or not. Hopefully it is and we can use it for baby#2.

I agree with everyone about not believing the tech on the weight. Your gut is a better judge.

I cannot believe how big Lillian is getting. She is ADORABLE!!!

Yay for new car! and car seat! - looks great!
good to hear good news on the baby.. don't worry about gaining too much. boys are a bit heavier than girls, well in my case - my girl is lighter than my son. so, i only speak from my own experience :)
nausea is tough to deal with :(
my heartburn is kicking in lately and i have to sacrifice chocolate and all other good things that cause heartburn :(((

My friend was told my her ultrasound tech that her baby was 10lbs so she had to give birth to her daughter 2 weeks early and have a C-section. Her daughter only ended up weighing a little over 6lbs! So sometimes the techs can be wrong!
Welcome to 3rd trimester! It will fly by, mine sure has! I am only 5 weeks away! Your daughter is adorable :)

You've done great and I am glad that the u/s looked good this time! Don't force the exercise, you did the right thing by moving to something that feels better. It is tougher the bigger baby gets, I think... I can totally relate! Like the new car and Lillian is so cute!!! Congrats on the last third of the pregnancy, that means I am right behind you -- woo HOO!!!

At our ultrasound 2 days before Graham was born, the tech guessed he'd weigh 8 lbs 15 oz. Thankfully he was only 8 lbs 3 oz. Hopefully your tech will be wrong, too!
