The journey...

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

I had to steel this from Paula's status this morning.
"The journey is the reward." (Chinese Proverb)

This trip we are on is rewarding.

1. Think of all the really nice people we have met.
If it wasn't for this site, I would not have been blessed with the friendship and wisdom of so many. The encouragement we receive from each other motivates us on to keep going even during times of grief, setbacks, to much work, bad weather, junk food in the house.....

2. The challenges we have experienced.
The challenge may be getting started, or getting off a plateau. Maybe it is trying to get out of the same exercise and food routines. There is always someone here that is willing to give you that little nudge. (And that kick in the pants if you really ask them to give it to you.) Life can be very hard and sometimes our close friends just don't see the struggle you are going through. We can always come here and ask for support or sympathy or both if need be.

3. The life lessons we have learned.
We have learned to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and start all over again. For me and for a few others, that may be many times. But we don't give up. One of the biggest lessons we learn is that life is short. Do we really want to go through it overweight, unhealthy, flabby, being a couch potato? For all of us here, the answer is no.
So a lesson that is learned here is,
There is strength in numbers. I love the "numbers" of friends here. Even if I can't make it here all the time. I know that my friends still think about me and will email if I have not been around for a while. And these friends always welcome you back to the team if you are gone for a while.
Lesson learned,
Your friends here do really care about you.

God bless each and every one of you for this rewarding journey.
