getting diet back on track

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I spent the last week of March in Minnesota helping get my mom and her husband moved into an assisted living facility. It was very stressful as my mom has dementia and tends to fear change or throwing anything away including bills from the 1960's. I ate out a lot but was able to get several walks in while I was there and maintained my weight. Unfortunately since I've been back I've been stress eating and can't seem to get a handle on it. I have been good about staying on my exercise routine especially this last week. I need to slow down and think about what I'm putting in my mouth.

Dementia is hardest on the family. Do what you can, stay in the moment with your mom and move her gently if she gets distressed. I hope she is happy in her new home but expect she doesn't like it because it is new.
You are doing well. keep up the good work
    best wishes, Sandra
