The accomplishment was real

I ran the Spark People Virtual 5K on Sunday. It was the first time I've ever participated in any kind of race, virtual or not. I'm really proud of myself for the training that went into it (I've never been able to run for more than a few seconds at a time) and the fact that I finished under the goal I set for myself. At first I set a goal of 50 minutes but I knew that was a little high since I can walk a 5K that fast. I set a more realistic, "challenging" goal of 40 minutes. I am proud to say that I came it at 38:56. One minute and four seconds to spare. WooHoo! I was so excited after I was done that I couldn't wait to tell everyone and anyone who would listen, aside from strangers. :)
Next up, I'm running a 3.5 mile race with some work colleagues as part of the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge in June. I'm looking forward to doing more training (outdoors this time) and hopefully improving my time. Anyone else running any races coming up? We can cheer each other on, virtually or not.
