Health and Life

As I have mentioned, I went to a Atrial Fibrillation symposium presented at Port Charlotte Hospital. It was such a sought after meeting that they had to schedule two and mine was full. they served a really healthy brunch. Bagels, fruit, juice, etc.
I have been part of the Women's Health Initiative for almost 15 years at OSU. I was a part of the actual effect of calcium in women. There was a placebo and the real thing. I had the real one. Part of the ladies also had to watch what they ate - for the full 9 years. They were studying the effect of food pertaining to breast health.
I am a 14 year breast cancer survivor. It didn't seem to matter how many times I read that obesity was a deterrent to healthy breasts. I continued on my way to 215#.
I got sick last year and had my gall bladder removed. I lost enough weight to get to 189#. Have I kept on a healthy diet? Per Spark? No. There are things I no longer can eat without getting sick pretty quick so I steer clear of them. My weight has not improved....until now.
I have had atrial arrhythmia for about 3 years. At first it was just a mild fluttering and if I stroked my carotid artery it went away. Eventually it developed into atrial fibrillation and I had some pretty scary moments. My health care Dr. and an ER Dr. both said, "Are you stressed/" Here, take this pill. So I have Zoloft to take. Finally at my request I was referred to a heart specialist in Columbus and am now on a regime of a full aspirin, Metropolo daily, and in my purse I carry a medication that has a side effect of "sudden death"! Isn't that something?
At the symposium I learned a lot from the Dr. speaking and he was willing to answer all questions. He said the medication I was taking was "safe" for me because I had had a stress test. You think I'm not going to ask about that? So ablation might be a procedure that I will look at.
Here's my message to those of you struggling along, trying to lose weight. It is so much harder as you get older because sometimes you can't keep up the strength training, you can't walk a lot (personally I can), run, or many other things. Take care of your health TODAY!
Yes you'll look great but the feeling of health has to be the number one thought in your life! I hope you all accomplish your goals to a healthy life; one that you will truly enjoy!
