Holy Week is coming!

Monday, April 11, 2011

Ahhhh!!! Such wonderful warm temps today! In fact, because it was warm enough for the furnace to NOT come on this morning, we were all able to sleep in (til 8 am), which was much-needed. Sleep is so, so important.

I'm so looking forward to Easter... next week is HOLY WEEK--YAY!!! I've chosen a different meal to fast for each of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; and then Thursday I'll fast all day (except fluids, of course); and on Friday I'll fast coffee--I'll have to get a bit of caffeine through tea, if I don't want my headache to be too bad!

Normally, fasting would just make me feel weak and sickish, but when I'm doing it for Holy Week, and remembering to pray, it's much easier. Of course, all these fastings are kept secret, as much as possible. It's my husband & son's chance to have a shrimp ring, since I don't like shrimp! :)

Our church used to have a service every evening of Holy Week--except the Good Friday service in the morning. Unfortunately, they've been very poorly attended lately, even though they're sooo good! Of course this year, things are in disarray because of the shake-up we've experienced, so that's the main reason we're not having all the services.

However, the Prayer Group will be on Monday as usual; the kids' ministry is having a special Movie Night (VeggieTales' "Jonah"), and then there will be the usual foot-washing service on Thursday, and Good Friday service. So that only leaves Tuesday... I'm sure I could manage to find something Holy Week-ish to do! ;)
