This afternoon, I was talking to a friend on the phone,
when I heard a sound as though someone had thrown
a rock at one of our windows. It really frightened me!
I told my friend about it, she stated that it was hailing
where she lives. She lives about 12 miles from me.
Then I heard something hitting the top of our house,
that was so loud, it was deafening. I could no longer
hear my friend speak, so I hung the phone up.
When I looked outside, I saw something that neither
me nor my husband has ever seen before. Large hail
stones were coming down & quickly covered the lawn
and roadways. The stones were the size of tennis
balls to baseball size! It kept coming down for at
least 10 minutes!
My husband reached out on a step and picked up one
of the stones. It was near the size of a baseball. It
is the one that I am holding in my hand, in the picture
above.
It was two hours before we were able to get out to see
the damage to our house. We have vinyl siding on our
house. On one end of the house was extensive damage.
Holes all over. All the vents on top of the house are
flattened, gutters damaged. All of my flowers destroyed.
We have a carport with a steel roof, that has dents all
over. As far as we can tell, there is no damage to the
shingles on the house nor on our garage. I want go into
details of other damage as well.
There are many reports of car windows and sunroofs
completely broken out and of course, the cars are
dented all over. Neither of our vehicles were damaged.
I am sure that there is wide-spread damage all over
our area in Kentucky.
I hope to never see another hail storm like this again,
in my life time. It was a very scary thing to go through.
I think it could have killed a person, or caused them
severe physical injuries.
