Ticking Away

Thursday, April 07, 2011

Just gotta get through it.

I've been dreading today for quite some time, and each second that ticks by brings a new wave of anxiety. There's a project that has a high probability of failure at work that I'm a part of, and today is step one in a series of releasing it to a few key people. One of these individuals is incredibly difficult to get along with.

Sure, I could just look forward to today being over, but I'll need to go through it again next Monday and Tuesday for a few others who are equally as difficult.

There are often days where I wish I didn't have to work with other people. Being reclusive has its appeal.

Thanks for the support guys (and the laughs)! It wasn't as awful as I thought it was going to be. This seems to happen all the time - I get so worked up over something and then it's over - and rarely does it pan out to be the "end of days" as I treat it.

Despite this, I do still feel that impending doom for Monday...

you can only control yourself and your reactions, as hard as that is, and believe me, i know (being a type "a" and all emoticon )...the questions to ask yourself are: did i do all i could do? did i do it to the best of my ability? and if the answers are yes, you should take comfort...there are some people in life that are going to be miserable, regardless of what you do, or say, or give them a pile of money....that's on them. remember that, and you will be fine....or else just repeat this " it is as it does"....i shortened it (it's from forrest gump, stupid is as stupid does)...but hey, as much as i like calling people out, most would be offended by the word stupid, so this still mystifies them emoticon ....hang in there, you can do this, have some faith in yourself, and who cares about the others?? you got this!! emoticon

Oh, I do this all the time at work, but I approach it with a different attitude.

Where I work EVERYTHING is bound to fail, however, I know that that is only true because of peoples attitudes. So why I do, is I try to tell everyone I can who is NOT work related about whatever crazy project I'm up to, so that because of their support and positive attitude, I can go through a presentation/launch with all of it backing me.

Difficult people at work are difficult because they've been in your shoes before. Shot down, projects launched and failed, and so they're like, "If it didn't happen for me, I'm going to make sure it doesn't happen for anyone else." Just gotta win them over. I do it by being funny, admitting to being human, and most likely trying to be as non-professional, professionally as I can.

YOU GOT THIS IN THE BAG! Stay positive! I will be sending good thoughts your way!!
