Cleverly titled blog

I haven't blogged in a while so I figured I should probably write a little update.

emoticon This is my final week of the walking/running 5K training program on SP. I'm running the virtual 5K on Sunday (4/10). I'm excited to finally get it over with and I am looking forward to accomplishing one of the goals I set out for myself. I originally gave myself a maximum time of 50 minutes but I know I can finish under 40 (I've done it a few times already). And, after this "race" is done, I have another one in June. This one is an actual race with thousands of people. It's the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. Last year I was a cheerleader for my company's team and this year I'm participating. What a difference a year makes!

emoticon Also, I gave up alcohol for Lent. I have been doing well and haven't even had a sip of booze since Lent started. However, I decided to cut the "challenge" short and I'm only doing it until after my 5K. I didn't get to really celebrate my birthday (although I did go to the rodeo this past weekend) and I have a friend in town on 4/16 and it won't be very fun to go out with her and not drink. I will drink in moderation though as I can't waste my daily calories on booze.

emoticon Speaking of calories, I bought a scale (finally) so I no longer have to rely on the finicky one at the gym. This scale is also a body fat monitor. I'm excited to get it out of the box and see what it says. I'm going to do my best not to rely too heavily on the number on the scale though as I know that I have made some real progress. My friends are noticing the changes and I can see it too. My clothes are getting looser, my double chin has gone down and I have tons more energy.

emoticon I want to thank all of my SP friends and teams for helping me continue on this healthy journey without stumbling too much.

I'm sure you will do great on your 5K!!! I'm training for one now and it is so hard!! My best time so far has been 43 minutes, but I'm hoping to get under 40 by the time of the race in a month and a half!
