Less sugar

Initially, after I started in January, I lost 4 pounds right of the bat. Since then, I've gained and lost the same 1 pound. Very disheartening. One thing is the lack of exercise. Cold winters make me just want to hunker down. Now it is getting warmer, I am getting more exercise (walking is my thing) and my daughter and I decided to go on a lo/no sugar "diet" for 2 weeks. Amazingly, in 1 week I lost almost 4 lbs. Not only that, I feel a lot better, have more energy. Never knew sugar made such a difference. And...I discovered there is so much sugar in almost every product. We use skim milk and a cup of skim milk has 13 grams of sugar. Why??? I want to check out the organic milk - so lucky to have an organic store around the corner - and see what the sugar content is in that milk. Remember drinking milk as a child (in the Netherlands) and no one would even think of adding sugar to the milk. On to week #2 of lo/no sugar and see what the results are next week. I may just stick with this lifestyle for ever.

    I have a staff person who says "fat doesn't make you fat, sugar makes you fat"...and I've seen that to be the truth in the past 4 months...Blessings Inge! Karen

    Interesting blog Inge! I switched over from white sugar to raw sugar for my morning coffee, and try to lessen my sugar intake in everything else. I did not know that it was in milk, very interesting!

    PS - Since the race is over, I now have the time to run it myself, so I am currently in Iceland, so I am reading and commenting on blogs, but most of the current ones I had already read and commented on, so this is quite the challenge for me! emoticon
