Newton Revisited

A body at rest will stay at rest, a body in motion will stay in motion.

I would have never guessed that Sir Isaac Newton's discoveries would have such an affect on my life 30+ years after I learned about his 3 laws of motion. Specifically inertia.

I know what it is for my body to be at rest. The idleness, the motionlessness, to be at a standstill. For many years my body has been at rest, and just like Newton says, it wants to stay at rest. For the last 75 days I have taken small steps to get my body in motion.

I started with 10 minutes walking on the treadmill. I have taken small steps to create more motion. First a faster pace, then a greater incline. I have been increasing my time I spend on the treadmill. I am now up to 60 minutes. I added hand weights during one interval, then more speed...2.5...3.0...3.5. Then it occurred to me, this body in motion wants more motion! So I did it. First 4.0...then right on to 5.0. I was still on my feet, running!! My body in motion wanted more motion so on to 5.5 I went. I was running! I am a runner!

Thanks for the enlightenment, Isaac, I'll take it from here.
