Day Three of Racquetball Fun!

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

I am so excited. I finally was able to pay for the entire year financial assisted fees for the YMCA and I have been several times. Yesterday, on day two of my rededication to my health plan, April (my youngest daughter age 19) and I went to the Y and played racquetball.

We don't really know exactly how to play but we decided that we were going to play hard and keep that ball moving as much as possible. There was going to be NO slacking.

This is what a court looks like...

We know that you are supposed to bounce the ball once while inside the rectangular box shape and serve it up against the front wall and the serving shot should hit the floor once behind the dotted line to be a good serve. Then every other time the ball is hit it is my turn to hit the ball and then April's turn. After the serving hit the ball can hit any wall but it is only SUPPOSED to bounce once on the floor before it is hit again.

Because we are beginners we worked on getting the serve right but beyond that we didn't care if the ball bounced more than once. If we had a chance to hit it we did.

Sometimes we looked good and got several hits before we messed up...

Our form was on track and then we would get serious and everything would fall apart and we would start batting at the air...

I have come to the conclusion that my daughter did not develop her hand / eye coordination when she was younger. She was swinging at the air so much that I laughed so hard I told her that if she didn't quit that I was going to pee my pants from laughter. That is when we looked like this...

We had a WONDERFUL time and I totally recommend that you get a friend or family member that is fun to hang out with and go to a racquetball court and wack the ball around for a GREAT workout and an AWESOME time with a friend.

PS: On our fitness tracker there is racquetball competitive and racquetball casual. Sixty minutes of Casual Racquetball will burn 600 calories and I totally believe it because I was exhausted after 30 minutes and my muscles were soar for the rest of the day but not the next day so I think I did enough but NOT too much.

That is the way my daughter and I play racquetball, just keep the ball moving, and us moving too. We don't really keep score either. It is just fun to get out and move, only I can't do it for very long without being totally winded.

We used to have a raquetball court in our town, but just when I was starting to get good at it, they closed. I really, really loved the game, and it was great exercise, especially since the people teaching me were good players and really worked me! I miss it! Keep it up and have fun!!!
