Royal Wedding Cake Announced!!

Sunday, March 27, 2011

With the rest of the news being so stressful, a fun high note for the day is that Prince William and his bride Kate have chosen their wedding cake.

And to my delight, the wedding cake will be a traditional English Fruitcake. What joyous news! I am a Fruitcake lover! My Mother bakes a Christmas Fruitcake with candied fruit and walnuts!

During the Christmas Season, our dear Sparkfriend, the Beautiful SLIMTHICK2 from Trinadad in the Caribbean bakes Holiday Fruitcakes for order.

We exchanged holiday greetings in early December and she was busy baking her cakes. She wanted to know what type of fruitcake I was accustomed to and shared with me, " ... in Trinidad it's a must for Christmas, ours is almost black with plenty of fruit, rum and wine."

She will be tickled to hear that the fruit in the royal wedding cake will be soaked in Bourbon, the cake will be iced with a traditional cream and white frosting and decorated to represent the different regions in the United Kingdom with fondant flowers, shamrocks and English roses.

Have a great Sunday!
Love,
Vera

I've never made one, but this blog is inspirational. Maybe I'll start one for Christmas this year.

    YUM, I love fruitcake!!
I am very interested in the Royal family and can't wait until the wedding.

My Mother was from Ireland, and so every time something was televised, we would get up in the middle of the night so we could watch it live...Mother is gone now, but I still follow the family and just love all the pomp and ceremony.

    It is a feel-good thing!!

Sounds yummy. My dh is a fruitcake lover as well. However he's not a big eater and most of his Christmas cake is still soaking up brandy in the basement. A good reminder for me to tell him to keep eating it. LOL
