Halfway through, energy began to wane but I set out for 3 so I figured since I would be up there on that track just a wee bit longer it was time for a self-talk.
"First off, love," I began, "stop thinking so much. Concentrate. Watch your form. Make sure you're not tense in the shoulders. Keep your arms below your heart. Slow and steady. Don't overextend your right, your hip will hurt. Watch that you don't roll your left, to avoid knee pain. Good. Now listen and listen good. Don't just say you're listening cuz I know how you are sometimes, you say yeah yeah I'm listening and then you go off gallivanting with some other idea. Now remember what we talked about Monday? JG2G. Just get to goal. It doesn't matter how slow you go. You know where you wanna be, now get there. Don't think about how much longer it's going to take you or how you just want to be stretching on the sidelines right now. Think about the finish. Think about how marvelous sexy you'll feel. Think about crossing that off your list of accomplishments. That starts here. That starts here, with you but it can also end right here if you give up. And do you really want to give up? Think where you'd be right now if last June you'd stopped saying tomorrow and had started saying today. Think where you'll be this June if you start saying forget it. Remember what you told me January? You said I'm doing this for a bikini. For shorts. For LA. For life. You're doing this for a bikini, shorts, LA, life. Remember that. Say it with me. I repeated it all the way through to the end. 3 Miles under my belt. Goes to show, it's always a good time to remind yourself why you're even there in the first place.
