My First 5k

Sunday, March 20, 2011

I ran my first 5k today! I finished in 31:52. I'm already planning my next race LOL. I was so excited I had trouble sleeping last night. It was colder than we had originally expected. It was supposed to be 51F, but ended up being around 36F. I ran with my two good friends and my mom did the walk. It was beyond exciting being in a crowd of over 4000 people with the same goal to finish! It was so cool to be in the middle of a group of people waiting to run and when the race started everyone was cheering. It was also so cool to have all these strangers cheering you on from the sidelines. There was a group of people offering the runners jell-o shots about half way through the race. Too funny. I can't wait to do it again. I feel empowered and strong and can't wait to face the next challenge, a 10k in June!!
