December 3, 2011 was a blessing in disguise, although I didn't know it at the time. My Dr. informed me that my Blood Glucose and Cholesterol were elevated, & that I really needed to lose some weight. His concern was that the Dreadful Diabetes was going to claim my Life, as it did both of my parents,& is now plaguing my 2 older siblings. He had a look of grave concern on his face,a look I didn't like to see. I was upset for the rest of the day. I was determined to change things around, but I didn't know how, until I discovered the following day.
I was so grateful to find a Website that would help me solve my weight problem once and for all. And it was for FREE!!! I was in Heaven. I joined SparkPeople on 12/4 & became dedicated to following all of the instructions it sweetly gave. I did the Fast Break goals, struggled w/the 8cups of water(now its all I drink!!)&joined a few of the teams, which has proved to be a most exhilarating experience. In one month I lost 9lbs;I wasn't kidding. When I saw my Dr. in January & showed him my SparkPeople plan,he was highly impressed, but I had to do some labs to see if it was truly working on the inside, which I did in February. I didn't see my Dr. again until this past Friday,3/11. Did he light up when he saw me! I had lost 18 lbs! "You look Great!" He exclaimed. I showed him my Workout schedule;he said"You do all of this? You must be Iron Woman!" But it was the labs that were the greatest testimony.Although my 3-month Blood Glucose was still a bit elevated, my Cholesterol went down 58 points! (No more Popeye's Chicken!)OH!! He was so proud of me. "Just keep doing what you are doing! I'll see you in 3 months.YOU MADE MY DAY!"
Now,can you imagine what that did for me,to hear him say those precious words? I left his office floating. I know my Blood Glucose will eventually go down,&I will continue with lowering my Cholesterol. I'm losing the weight slowly, but I am happy. I get complimented every day with that wonderful question"Are you losing weight?"It's a great feeling knowing that my health is going in the right direction. When your approaching 1/2 a Century in years, you have to work extra hard at keeping this body up to speed,
especially when there is so many exciting things to do in this Life.
Isn't that what LIVING is all about? emoticon
