Another furry squatter

In September of 2009 I had some four footed squatters in my yard, a groundhog and some possums'. This year I have a squatter in my garage and I really don't want this one at all, it is a skunk ! Now mind you I live in town not in the country but I seem to be attracting the critters to my place. My garage is detached and sits back from my house. I leave for work at 5:00 a.m. so I pop the garage door with the remote before I leave the house. Last Monday as I was walking back to the garage I saw something scurry under my car and head to the back corner under my work bench. Didn't get a good look at it, just the back half, but knew it wasn't a cat. I noticed a few days later that a piece of molding on the inside of the door frame for the side door was torn off. I figured that this was where the critter was trying to get out. Saw the critter again on Friday morning so later in the morning I called my mom and had her open the garage door. Figured it was trapped and this would let it out. When I got home from work Friday afternoon, I parked beside the house and walked to the garage to check things out. I peeked into the box where I keep our newspapers for recycling and noticed a dark area in the back under the paper. I got a bamboo garden stake and tapped on the box. Finally the critter raised its head and I saw the white stripe down the middle of its head. It was a young skunk and I had disturbed its nap. I finally got it out of the box, without getting sprayed, and it ran to the back of the garage. I then let it be and put the garage door down, leaving a gap at the bottom that it could get out. When I went back out to the garage several hours later it was gone.
I had to work the next day and picked up a box of moth balls and put in the paper box. When the weather warms up some I will do my annual clean out the garage and I will put the newspapers in a rubbermaid tote with a tight lid so my little furry friend has to find another place to sleep. Don't want a skunk hanging around with my mom, she forgets and I don't need her to surprise it in the garage and get sprayed or bitten. I also don't want to take the chance with the dog and cat finding it. Thought I left this all behind when I moved in town.
