Much Ado About Nothing

Sunday, March 13, 2011

I just read a topic posted on the Spark Business Community Team about posting your points early.

Seems that it bothers some folks that others are posting their points ahead of time, seemingly in the food department.

So I read these comments, and this is what I have come up with.

It is all Much Ado About Nothing!

I mean, why should I care if someone posts points ahead of time?? I mean, what business is it of MINE?

I have enough on my plate (pun intended) without policing others.

It is totally MY business what points I log for my food, exercise, water, etc.

After all, who am I trying to lose weight for? MYSELF. I cannot lose weight or cut calories for any one else. And I am certainly not willing or interested in policing others.

I have no interest in the Spark Police coming to my house.

I have teammates to encourage, support and interact with, and they give the same back to me.

The key here is ENCOURAGE!!! Not snipe at one another.

I am not competing with anyone other than myself.

We each have joined Spark for our own reasons. Some to lose weight, some to learn healthier ways of living, some to ward off loneliness.

Does it really matter WHY we join? Isn't the fact that we joined enough?

This thing is a "to thine own self be true" process, and any other opinions are MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.

So I will stay with my teams, my friends and my coaches. I will bring what I can to the banquet of life on Spark.

But I will NOT participate in finger pointing.

I think this entire subject ought to be taboo.

Now, I think I have said my piece. Time to work out.

Love you guys!!! WE can do it!!!

I'm caught in this "HUH?" moment. I often track my points for the day before consuming them, but only so I follow my plan. I didn't know it was a big deal for anyone.

On the other hand, I didn't know that I could buy goodies with my points, so I wasn't using them for anything except keeping myself on the straight and narrow. emoticon

You are so right! Its Much ado about NOTHING! Because its a tracker and who cares when you get the points, except those who are competing for it! NOT me! Tracking is second nature for me, and losing weight and eating right is more my style and the true measure of the whole idea for tracking them, not points! Points for me are nothing because they dont give you cash in the bank! Or help you lsoe the weight ahead of time. lol That would be different if your were being paid to lose! Then I would say it was cheating for monetary gain, but theres no real gain here if you get points before you loss weight or food eaten. LMAO! Big time! Truly a waste of time worrying about it. Only kids worry about such petty things! Yo Cry baby is what they are! susan

When I read your blog I was kinda confused on the whole situation lol. People are policing spark points for the food trackers? Thats some crazy talk. and I've heard ALOT of crazy talk especially in my job. Its one of those things that people apparently have nothing better to do. Rock on and keep on keepin on! emoticon

Crazy what people will find to get worked up about. It really is much ado about nothing! We all have the freedom to use this site in whatever way works best for us, and that is how it should be. There are far more important things in my life than that. Well said!

When I plan my meals for the week, it appears as if I have already eaten those calories for that day, but if when the day arrives I don't follow my plan, I make the needed adjustments and deletions in the evening before going to bed. It is afterall, as you point out, there as a tool for me to use. Planning is oh so important and I can only plan a specific recipe if I can add it to my tracker before I eat it. I could care less about the points. I guess I never thought about the fact that it is racking up points - ahead of time. Wow! I didn't realize some people consider it a life changing competition. I'm sticking with you on this one. Life as usual. Watch out fat cells, here we come!

I agree. It is lovely to be able to copy a favorite meal and post it for the whole week, if that is what you do. I have done that with my typical morning fare - coffee, milk, sugar, and vitamins. It made it easier because it was on my daily menu about 80% of the time.

Spark points are fun, but like anything else, along that line, it is for fun, and encouragement.

I like you too! And I say RIGHT ON! It is much ado about nothing. We all have our own unique or not so unique reasons why we are here. We are checking ourselves out. If it appears people cheat(?) the end results for then will be the end results for them.

We will handle out own business and the SP take care of theirs.

    Oh yes we can!

Spark points do not really matter to me, just as long as I have enough to buy goodies for other members. I totally agree with your comments.
