Waist to hip ratio

I just read an article on why it is important to know where fat is stored in our bodies; 'Waist-to-Hip Ratio Estimates Health Risk: Are You an Apple or a Pear?'

While it is genetic and we have no control over it, we can benefit a lot by knowing so we can limit our health risk.
Earlier, i had measured myself wrongly way below my navel and my result was 0.86 that is, apple shape. I decided to read the article mentioned above so i could know more about my waist to hip ratio and to my great astonishment, the article said to measure just above the navel. Quick as a snap, i got my tape measure out and this time when i entered the results in, i got 0.80 which is pear shape. now i'm so glad i read the article, one less thing to worry about.
