My computer crash. UGH!

Ok. I admit it. I'm terrible at keeping up with writing blogs, answering messages, mail etc. But I think the most important thing is, until this week, I've been pretty good about keeping up with my food tracking. And that's what we're here for right?! Yet, I find in trying to keep up with my personal email, facebook and the occasional tweet, I have no time for anything but the basics on SparkPeople. In order to stay active and happy in my REAL life, I have to limit my virtual life. Right? Can you relate? A lot of times I just track my food and fitness and go. So anyone out there reading this that I've not responded to, so sorry, my bad and I'm trying to do better! Multi-tasking, balance and time management are all skills I struggle with. I think I must be just slower than so many of the amazing sparkers I read about. So many of you seem to be getting it all done and with style!

Don't get me wrong. I DO love reading others stories/blogs/spark pages so I realize I should do my part and share as well. It's likely someone out there can benefit or relate to and learn from something I've learned, just as I have from all of you. I also believe staying active, supportive, and keeping in touch with other sparkers is fun and a big part of the spark experience and success. But I personally am struggling to find balance with it all.

In any case, here's what I learned this week.

Tracking my food is an absolute must! My computer crashed this week (fan blew out and more sensible to replace than fix) and I was not able to go on SparkPeople very easily and track food. I do have the food tracker application on my phone but it's not fast--I don't have an iphone! A few days of no computer, soccer practice, band rehearsal, a chess tournament, mom's four hour doctor appointment, a birthday party, 2 sleep-overs... it's been a bad week for sparking. As I went back and tracked the best that I could--I WAS SHOCKED!!! Over my calorie range for most days I missed, unmet fitness goals, waaaaay low in protein, and too much sugar. For me, information is a powerful tool in my little healthy eating journey and I'm no where near ready to take the training wheels off! Ignorance is not bliss people.
