Everyone's doing it, why not me?

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

I decided to give up something for Lent this year. I haven't really done it in the past. The church I go to doesn't really "require" it so I never felt compelled to do it before. I have been wanting to give up alcohol for a while now and this seemed like a good time to do it. If I can make it through the 40 days of Lent, maybe I can make it 60 or 100 or forever. Drinking is bad for me and adds empty calories to my food tracker and takes the place of yummy things I could have instead.

I know that my SP family will be there to encourage me and hold me accountable during this time.

That is a wonderful goal. You can wean yourself off by trying sparkling fruit wines. It wont taste the same but your eyes might trick your tastebuds. lol!!

I would LOVE to do this but am nervous. Care to help each other out? I don't drink except for weekends or when friends are in town, but still. I'd love for your help with motivation :)

Funny how so many people avoid drinking thier calories, except when it comes to alchohol! I cut out all drinks other than water/coffee/tea when I began EXCEPT for my occasional alchoholic drink. Giving it up for Lent is a great idea!
