Slipping.

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

What I know for sure the calorie intake is up and I am maintaining and not dropping. The grasp I had on weight loss is slipping and I don't want to gain back the 40lbs I have lost. I have cut my calories to have a loss next week.

Regrets, I have a few, but I'll add this to the list!

I had some sad news: The death of my cousin back in England and I feel so bad, he e-mailed me this lovely letter and was asking for me to reply asap. It takes me a while to be able to reply. First he was an English teacher and could write such interesting letters and had a wonderful way with words. I would feel so intimidated when his letters would arrive. I say letters but they were more like mini novels!!

He wrote that letter to me and 7 days later he died. I am having a hard time with his death. I have very little family left, and partly because I never wrote him back. I started the reply but saved it in drafts and never completed it. I feel like such a smuck!!

There is a saying that keeps running through my head. I think it is by Benjamin Franklin ... "Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today"...... I am left with wishful thinking.

I think we all live with regrets of some form or another when a loved one dies. I hope you can make peace with this within yourself. Grief is a journey. You will not finish walking the road overnight. Give yourself time.

I am so sorry for your loss. When you feel up to it you might want to finish your letter to him. We have a thread on our Lost a Loved One team titled "What would you Say to Your Loved One". It has been healing for many of our members to speak their thoughts directly to their lost Loved One. You will know what is best for you.

So sorry to hear of your sad loss Anne! I think we all feel guilty about something when someone close dies!
I think I need to lower my calories too. I seem to have hit a plateau. Good luck!

So sorry about your loss. What if you go ahead and finish the letter? It might help with the loss.
Just take one step at a time with the weightloss. YOU CAN DO IT! You have come so far already. Happens to us all.

I am sorry for your loss.

We all have regrets in life but we can't let the 'what if' or 'should haves' control our lives. Allow yourself time to grieve and then get right back on track.

Sometimes taking a break and just maintaining, and then starting to try and lose weight again, works well by shocking the system with a change in routine. As long as you don't go crazy and gain, don't beat yourself up over not losing all the time. This is a life long journey.
