OPERATION JON GETS FIT: 6 Month Update.

Looking back on this blog, I have found that that in the beginning, I had a great spark. I was excited about losing weight. Then came the set backs. Part of the problem was I found I didn't really know what I was doing. I was eating to much and exercising to little. After about 5 months, I decided to try something different and simple....wait for it...simple math.
Burn more than you take in. Seems simple right? It really is. Now, being a complete geek I'm using technology to help. 2 things I find I can't live without:
1) My BodyMedia. It's very much like the bodybugg you see on The Biggest Loser. It goes on your arm and tracks the calories you burn through the day.
2) the MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone. I've tried to three other food trackers and MyFitnessPal is leaps and bounds my favorite.
In the first 5 months, I lost and kept off 10 pounds. Not a tremendous success. In the last month, I have lost 5 pounds. Because I an constantly monitoring my intake/output. 3PM rolls around and I don't feel like hitting the gym? I look at the calorie display and see "oh wow, I really sat around" better my big ass to the treadmill.
I'm not trying to sell anything, and I'm not getting paid to use anything. I am ,however, loving these two tools and can see immediate results and an upswing in my motivation from using them.
