Setting the pace

Saturday, March 05, 2011

It is Saturday.
The best thing is that the sun is shining, the sky is blue, the clouds are puffy, and the cat was nice and warm!
This morning, I woke hurting, slept some more, now still hurting, but not in the same places as yesterday, so I am ready to do my stretches, and a light (VERY light) routine on wii fit plus. So, in some ways I am better than yesterday. The pain is strong in the low back, and less in the arms and neck so far today. The knee is just as bad. And you thought it was just my neck, hmph. Not.

I think the pain has been so strong since I have been taken off the NSAIDS - Naproxen - before surgery (I have been off it for over a week now). As of Wednesday I have been off all my vitamins as well. Oh joy.

The wire is under my nose, and the majority of the important stuff is done. Now it is up to choices as to what I do. Still, I will not "overdo" - that will be key with getting through the next few days.

Yesterday - though I hurt, I accomplished some little things
I cut coupons and discarded old ones
Went through some old magazines - just a few
I played with my mp3 player and loaded Vivaldi's Four Seasons, lots of classical, some Beatles, and Crosby Stills Nash and Young. I will ask my son to help me get a few more.
I tried to get a book, but had a few glitches.
I stayed under for calories (though I was craving chocolate a lot!)

List for next few days
daily stretches
a little more if I feel up to it
8 glasses of water
healthy eating
healthy sleeping
continue - little chores

I like that little 3 letter non-word - etc. because it covers so much!
Now, on to my stretches! (I know, gentle and careful)

I'm sorry to hear that you are still having so much pain. Take care & rest as much as you can before your surgery. I love your new background paper too-very pretty!

So sorry about your extra pain. I disliked being off my medicines before surgery as well, but fortunately, I was allowed my Humira, which for me, is more effective than NSAIDS anyway..
Sounds like some nice music for you to listen to during your recovery. Nice to hear you are being slow and careful about getting things ready and in your exercises..
Enjoy your weekend as best you can..

Hang in there, girl. Just don't overdo things. Before you know it, you'll be done with the surgery.

For a chocolate fix, I highly recommend Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidant bars. High in fiber and only 130 calories. I like the Dark Chocolate Almond ones. REALLY has a chocolate taste. The only thing is to watch your fiber intake. If you're not use to a lot of fiber, start off slow with these.
