setting good example for my teen son

Friday, March 04, 2011

went grocery shopping tonight with spark people list in hand and a few ideas of my own and I am excited to say I was actually proud of my choices and bought some new fruits Ive never tried before and some healthy snacking alternatives. Im excited to try them and see if they are good and if I stay full from the new snacks I got.
It was easy to tell my "snacks" from my husbands. All his said things like "hostess" and most of mine said "all natural" or were from the produce isle, etc. It was funny. and I was even so proud of my son (he's 16) because I was buying him a favorite snack of his and when we got ready to check out he looked at it and said "mom I dont think I should be eating those anymore, maybe we should put them back and Ill just snack on fruit and some fiber bars this week". Awww, my baby boy, Im so glad Im finally setting a good example for him!
I want to get to goal weight and GOAL HEALTH before he is 18 and off to college or where ever life takes him, that way he can see it CAN be done if you work at it! (he will have a long road ahead of him with weight issues if he isnt careful too)
Well, another positive day and happy night! :)

OMG! How proud you must be of your son, he's clearly seen what you're trying to do and is with you all the way!
