A friend's gift
Tuesday, March 01, 2011
A dear friend of mine just gave me a one-month membership at a very beautiful and well-decked out community rec center (state of the art weight machines, olympic pool and 2 hot pools, sauna, steam room, corkscrew water slide for kids, amazingly well-maintained free weights and power weights, and lots of great fitness classes).
She did it to help me get through this next month of hard work to get a better job. She did it because we're friends, sure as we're born. She did it because I am financially destitute, temporarily, and freaking out about it.
It didn't cost her much, but it's worth life itself to me.
And, on the other hand, it's a gift of infinite worth and caring and support from her, truly priceless. For me, it's a challenge to use those facilities every day for the next month, to show her what a blessing it is to me.
I am going to be so sore. Dang. That's what friends are for: To make you really sore.
I am truly blessed in my friends.
