"People are not resistant to change. They are resistant to loss."

Monday, February 28, 2011

I came across this quote while reading a manual for work. Boy, does that one make me think. Not only for work related things, but personal and weight loss as well.

Why am I resistant to changing my lifestyle? Because honestly, I don't want to lose being lazy and eating junk. Truly. Sitting on the couch all day with a good book or two, and mounds of junk food - HEAVEN! I don't want to lose that.

What are you resistant to losing in this journey?

This quote really is true. The reason why I started this journey was my family. I suppose then that I am resistant to losing time with my family. That is why I have chosen to follow the path I am currently following. The funny thing is that I still find myself lazying about, watching TV or working on my computer only this time I am stuffing myself with carrot sticks, popcorn, bananas, etc. instead of chips and soda pop. So I really have not changed my behavior just what I put into my body. That is why I love SparkPeople.com because I have never, ever felt like I was on a diet, restricting myself, rather I have gained some very important knowledge that literally has changed my life.
    Thanks for sharing.

There was a woman tonight at my Weight Watchers meeting who wanted to stay fat because she sees herself as a big beautiful woman and resists losing her weight because she feels diminished and like she is not worth as much when she gets down to a smaller size.

It is loss isn't it? Wow!!! Thank you for writing this blog. So true.

I guess we all need to figure out the type of person we want to be and how we will look. If being overweight is our decision, then so be it. If not, then let's get working toward the body we want to have, one pound at a time. -- Lou

    Ditto....

I too am resistant to losing the "easy" way where I don't have to think about what I am putting in my mouth...
