Hebrews 11: Faith in Action

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Today I'm starting over. For far too long I have used my bad marriage, than divorce as an excuse to overeat, overspend, over drink, etc. I have allowed myself to become lazy and undisciplined. Unfortunately, while it did bring a source of immediate comfort, the long term effect, I feel, has been more devastating than that of the reasons that caused me to overeat to begin with. My heart has literally suffered due to the stress and the weight gain. My blood pressure was and is without medication over the charts high. On one occasion this had led to me being hospitalized due to an abnormal EKG and stress test. Thankfully the angiogram I had showed good flow through my arteries, and nothing that shouldn't be able to be fixed. You would have thought the experience to be an awaking to my condition and start taking control of my health. Instead I ended up GAINING and additional 20 lbs!
I am fortunate to be employed at a physical therapy clinic. We have decided to start a clinical trial to prove that obesity can be helped by physical therapy.
My goal is to lose weight, increase strength, find HEALTHY ways to comfort and reward myself, and to get off ALL medication.
I am using this blog as part of our clinical trial. Being held accountable, seeking support, and by writing through the experience, we believe to be very helpful to achieve these goals.
Because we are Christian's and work in a christian based clinic, we will be praying before our sessions and have Christ be the foundation of this clinical trial.
