My grand-daughter Camille is going to college next year. We have been busy shopping for prom dresses, visiting college campuses and just general "getting ready" for the big changes in her life over the next 6 months. I will miss the activity as she moves on to her next phase and meets new friends and has new adventures.
But, in the mean time she is my motivation to keep active. lots of walking and talking. And it makes me happy too. I want to stay healthy for Camille, Jerrica and my other grandchildren. So I can participate in their lives as they grow up to be contributing members of society. I want to live to meet my great grandchildren.
I am tracking my food intake to see how I control my eating. Today I ordered something on a menu at a restaurant we tried and WOW! Three times as much food as I should be eating! So I proudly ate only 1/3 of the dinner (and I was full) and took home the rest in a doggy bag. the next day my husband and I split the remaining food, I fixed a yummy side salad and we had an easy meal for the evening. and it was a meal with a lot less calories than it could have been. To think that there would have been a time when I would have eaten the whole amount in one meal! Now I know better and I know my proper food serving sizes better. I am making progress! It was a good day!
