Ribeye Count Confusion??
Wednesday, February 23, 2011
Ok, so I'm thoughly confused on the calorie count for a ribeye steak! Ribeye is one of my FAV's! And they were on sale, so I grabbed a 1/4" thick, very small one (about 4 oz)...to splurge a little. If you know your Ribeyes, then you know this was a pathic excuse for a ribeye! It should be ashamed to call itself a ribeye!! But it had the marbling and the flavor!! So I'm good!!
However, the calorie count on Spark was all over the place!!! It varied from 300 to 1500 calories?!? So I googled it, and had the same problem!! I guess I can understand some variance, cuz ribeyes are know for the fat marbling, and the more consistant marbling the better the flavor. And very lean ones don't pack the flavor!
So a ribeye ranges from 50-125 calories per ounce. So, I'm gonna guesstimate on 100 calories per ounce, which is a little higher than the average calorie count. I would rather over estimate, than under estimate. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it....for now.....
Still confused, but this is my most logical answer.....
