Coughing as exercise?

I have a suggestion. I think coughing should be listed as a calorie-burning exercise of some sort. I have been hacking my head off for 7 days now. I get real sweaty and out of breath like I've just finished a marathon. Then my back and ribs start aching like I overdid it with the weights. And I've lost 2 pounds, probably because I struggle to keep anything down, which makes me afraid to eat. Just a thought I had.

I am going to see the Dr this afternoon because I am tired of this illness. I have missed an entire week from all 6 of my classes, soon to be two from some, and I am getting so far behind that I don't know if I'll ever catch up. I am trying to do what I can in between coughing spells when I should be in bed resting. I have been drinking lots of fluids, though.

Soon, I will be up and running, so to speak, I hope. Go Shooting Stars!!!

    Hoping you get well soon. Your body is keeping count of coughing calories burned even if it isn't an option on Sparks. Course I understand it's hard when you want to exercise and have it count for your team and can't. Take care of yourself and get well.

    Remember this weight loss journey isn't an all or nothing deal. One step at a time. You don't have to be perfect to be on a team. When you're up to par and trying to catch up with your classes, just do what you can. Keep checking in even if you can't do everything. Even if checking in is all you can do, do that one step. That will keep your foot in the door for when you are able to take an additional step and make more progress in your journey. This is just a side trail in your journey, a brief detour.

    I hear ya - I'm on my 3d week of this respiratory infection - cough, hack, snot, snuffle. Antibiotics for a week gave me the runs. I'm hungry, I'm nauseated, I'm tired ...and I've missed a week's work in the last 2. Bleah!

    Oh goodness! It sounds like you need to et some antibiotics flowing through that body. Until then rest and keep drinking those fluids and you are right coughing really works those ab muscles. I hope you are feeling better soon!
